Our name, our mark, and how to use them.
Logos, color, type, and approved boilerplate for partners and press — the same assets we use ourselves, packaged for anyone writing about Riverhead.
One zip — every SVG and PNG, plus the ground rules.
The marks
One mark, seven treatments.
The full lockup leads; the emblem stands alone where space is tight. Each treatment is previewed on the surface it's built for — vector SVG for print and product, transparent PNG for everything else.
Lockups
Color lockup
The primary mark — black wordmark, navy-and-blue emblem. Use it on white and light surfaces.
Contrast lockup
The emblem's navy replaced with true black. Holds up at small sizes and in print, where navy can read muddy.
Reversed lockup
White wordmark for dark and photographic surfaces — the treatment our own footer uses.
One-color lockup
Solid black or solid white for one-ink contexts — engraving, stamps, documents, forms, dark stock.
Emblem
Color emblem
The mark alone, where space is tight — avatars, favicons, app tiles. Reads on light and dark.
One-color emblem
Solid black or solid white for one-ink contexts.
Color
A river-blue system.
The working palette. These values mirror the design tokens this site is built from — if a hex here and the live site ever disagree, the site is right.
River Blue
#1453c7 · --blue-600
The lead accent — actions, links, emphasis on light.
River Blue · Dark
#5b8def · --blue-400
The same accent, lifted for dark surfaces.
Navy
#0b1430 · --navy
The deep band — footers, gravitas moments.
Ink
#0c1424 · --ink
Body text on light.
Paper
#f7f9fc · --paper
The near-white canvas.
Teal
#14b8c4 · --teal-500
Flow energy — gradients and motion, never text.
Amber
#e08a1e · --amber-500
The warm signal — decorative marks only.
Gradients
The aurora — three soft lights on the navy field. It is the site’s signature surface, under the hero, the closing call, and the footer, and it is drawn here live from the same stylesheet, not pasted in as a picture.
The recipe
The field · Navy
--surface-deep → --navy · #0b1430
The ground every light sits on. Paint it first, edge to edge.
Light 1 · River Blue
--flow-a → --blue-600 · #1453c7
An ellipse 60% of the width by 80% of the height, centred at 15% across and 10% down — 45% strength at the centre, gone by 60% of its radius.
Light 2 · Teal
--flow-b → --teal-500 · #14b8c4
An ellipse 55% of the width by 75% of the height, centred at 85% across and 25% down — 38% strength at the centre, gone by 55% of its radius.
Light 3 · River Blue · Deep
--blue-700 · #1243a3
An ellipse 70% of the width by 90% of the height, centred at 60% across and 100% down — 55% strength at the centre, gone by 60% of its radius.
The one rule: the lights sit on the navy field, never on white. Layer them in the order listed, first on top, and let each fade to nothing — they are a glow on a dark surface, not a fill.
On the site’s dark theme the two flow lights lift to --blue-400 and --teal-400 over a deeper field; the recipe above is the canonical one, and it is what the tiles show whichever theme you are reading in.
Take it with you
The same field as a file, for decks, social cards, and print. Both are transcribed from the stylesheet by the kit’s build script, never hand-drawn.
Typography
Fraunces speaks. Geist works.
Two open-source families carry everything: a display serif with a point of view, and a sans that stays out of the way. No license to clear — both are freely available.
Display · Fraunces
Every option. One honest answer.
Headlines, pull quotes, and numbers with weight. Optical sizing on, tracking tightened at display sizes.
Text · Geist
One application, one advisor, and the true cost of every option — shown side by side, in writing.
Interface, body copy, and every figure — numbers set in tabular variants so columns hold their line.
Usage
Keep it honest.
The same paragraph ships inside the kit. The short version: use the artwork as provided, give it room, and never borrow the mark for a claim we haven't made.
Do
- Use the files exactly as shipped — the kit covers light, dark, and one-color needs.
- Pick the treatment for the surface: color on light, reversed on dark, one-color when printing in one ink.
- Keep clear space around the mark — at least the height of the emblem's ring on every side.
- Scale proportionally. If the wordmark stops being legible, switch to the emblem alone.
Don’t
- Don't recolor any mark, outline it, add effects, or run a gradient through it.
- Don't stretch, rotate, or redraw it — including retyping the wordmark in another typeface.
- Don't set the lockup over busy photography or low-contrast fills.
- Don't use the marks to imply an endorsement or partnership that doesn't exist.
Boilerplate
Say it the way we say it.
Approved copy for listings, press mentions, and partner pages — copy it verbatim rather than paraphrasing what we do.
